Discipleship Through Candor (Prov 28:13). I preached this in a general session at the annual meeting of the Iowa Association of Regular Baptist Churches in Clear Lake, IA. You cannot disciple your family or anyone if you are fake. Hiding sin leads to discipleship failure. Candor leads to discipleship influence.
Discipleship Through Grace (Eph 4:31-32). This was a second sermon that I preached at the annual meeting of the Iowa Association of Regular Baptist Churches in Clear Lake, IA. You influence your family through grace, not anger. You cannot disciple with anger. It’s impossible. Will you grow in graciousness?
Enjoying Weakness (2 Cor 12:6-10) This is a sermon I preached in college chapel. In it I explain how the Apostle Paul could enjoy his weakness and pain because he knew that God was using it to humble him. He saw his thorn as a gift from God.
God’s Extraordinary Wisdom (1 Cor 2:6-16) In this sermon I explain that secular counseling theory is a worldly wisdom that is in competition with God’s wisdom found in His Word. The best that can be said about psychology is that when it describes people, it does a pretty good job. But when it proposes solutions to our sin problems, it fails miserably. Because it’s human wisdom, it doesn’t understand people, sin, God, or this world. We only get that information from God’s Word rightly understood through the work of the Spirit.
